Oh Joy! was one of the very first blogs I ever read…and it’s still at the tippy top of my list, always a daily stop, always lovely and unique and well pretty much perfect.Joy is one of those rare and wondrous ladies that manage to juggle many endeavors and do each one just right -- her design work, her gorgeous notebooks, her drool-worthy food blog…all spot on. And (you knew I was going to say this) after meeting her in person at Alt, I was even more smitten, because not only is she lovely and creative and kind, but she’s witty and smart and she lOVES to eat (I like that in a girl.) In fact, I managed to sit next to her at dinner two nights in a row, as there’s nothing better than dining alongside someone that eats with passion, no?
So of course her favorites…well you know…they’re fantastic. So without further ado, herewith Joy’s list. Enjoy and have a splendid weekend (I would highly recommend making these yummy cookies.)
my husband - that's us in our hipster-chic 3D glasses after watching avatar a few months ago. we've been married for over 3 years but together for over 13. he really is my better half.
sunshine - before moving to san diego from philly last year, i knew that sunshine would do wonders for me. but i had no idea just how good it would be. i have never felt more refreshed or happier with the constant sun beaming down from the skies. (photo via here)
flowers - flowers really are a girl's best friend. i like to do kooky things with my weekly farmer's market bunch and put them into various shaped vessels.
food - if i wasn't a designer, i'd be a professional eater or a food writer or something to that sort. i swear i'm not kidding. this is a french macaron ice cream sandwich from milk in los angeles.
patterned houses - how fun would it be to pattern the outside of your house? maybe not practical, but oh so pretty and fun! (image via here)
color - pure and simple. color makes everything better and happier. who wouldn't want to dive right into into this photo? (image by Joshua Scott)
bangs - after having the same old boring hair my whole teenage & adult life, i got myself some fringe last fall which i hadn't had since i was a kid. i love the instant hairstyle that bangs can give you. zooey was definitely amazing bang-spiration for me.
