Blogger's Favorites -- Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere

This week’s list belongs to an insanely stylish lady. If she wasn’t so sweet and down to earth, I’d probably feel woefully sartorially inadequate every time I visited her excellent blog. Wait, I do feel sartorially inadequate when I visit her blog

The gal has amazing taste and has influenced me (and I'm sure countless others) on more than one occasion (Case in point, I bought my grey Foley and Corinna bag after seeing how well she rocked her maple one…) So of course you're going to love her list!

Herewith Emily's favorites. Enjoy and happy weekend!

I was delighted when Joslyn asked me to put together a list of some of my favorite things to share with her readers. In fact, I enjoyed the process so much that I dedicated a notebook to things that make me happy. I’ll now scribble things down randomly and when I’m feeling sad, it lifts my spirits immediately after thumbing through just a few pages. Here’s a short list of things that make my heart flutter.

Saturday morning breakfast. During the week, I’m constantly running around; so on the weekends, I really try to savor the little things. Whether my boyfriend and I slip into Urth Café or make our own little spread, it’s such a great way to kick off the weekend on a nice, relaxing note.

San Francisco Fog. I grew up right outside of San Francisco and was pretty much engulfed in fog my entire childhood. I now live (and enjoy the weather) in L.A., but I still think there’s nothing more romantic than a cool, foggy night.

Seasonal Activities. I went apple picking in the fall and decorated gingerbread houses in the winter. I love having something to celebrate, no matter what time of the year.

Farmers’ Markets. Going to the Farmers’ Market was one of my favorite things I did with my dad when I was little. To keep up our tradition, I still visit one every Sunday for the freshest flowers and fabulous produce.

Baked Goods. I almost always leave room for dessert and cupcakes are my go-to choice for their perfect size and smile-inducing cuteness.

Warm Destinations. Despite the fact that the average temperature in L.A. is a warm 68, I love weekend getaways to Palm Springs for their hip hotels and beautiful pools.

Flea Markets. My closet (seen here) is filled with vintage finds. Some of my favorites include my Mexican embroidered shirt, deconstructed boots and my sequined blazer.

Tights with Heels. For a long while, I was highly opposed to wearing tights. Now that I’ve brought them back into the rotation, I can’t get enough of fun colors like cherry red, mustard yellow and electric blue.

Brightly Painted Nails. I’m pretty sure I was a manicurist in a past lifetime since I apply polish like a pro. More often than not, I rely on bright pinks and reds to add a pop of color to my hands.

Unique Jewelry. I love working with different textures and fabrics and just recently started my own Etsy shop. Wearing a great piece of jewelry has the ability to transform an entire outfit, which is why necklaces made of druzy agate or tulle make such an impact.
