An Attempt to Recap

I've been struggling a bit in writing a post that adequately sums up my time in Munich. It was such a whirlwind trip that the details are a bit of a blur -- like a dream with a few especially lucid moments and happy accidents thrown in.

Overall Munich is an inspiring and intensely lovely city but with a bit of a serious undercurrent that, for me, intensified its charm. Because I did very little pre-planning in terms of where I would go and what I would see, my most memorable experiences were the result of stumbling upon interesting shops or activities.

My best "find" (besides the bookstore) occurred on my final evening in the city, when attempting to escape the chill and the incredibly crowded street (I later realized the NATO Security Conference was taking place in town), I ducked into a Mark Rothko retrospective.

It was pure magic to go from the grey skies outside into a room full of literally larger than life color....

Some other sights that delighted me.
