Thursday's Tunes

Thursday's Tunes is something I graciously stole from S. Krishna's blog. She's got a great taste in music so go check her tunes out!

Yesterday, my husband and I went to see one of my favorite bands, Stellastarr*. I first saw them five years ago in Colorado when a little up-and-coming band called The Killers opened for them. How cool is that? I love the lead singer's voice and the bass player's name is Amanda, so obviously I'm a fan. They are a New York City band so it was cool to see them her at the Bowery Ballroom (my favorite venue in the city).

Here's a few videos:

The first song of theirs that I loved. The video is so cute:

Love this artsy video:

This song gets stuck in my head all the time:

Hope you enjoyed the tunes!

Thursday's Tunes

Thursday's Tunes is a weekly music post started by S. Krishna's blog. Go on over and check out her tune today. Thanks for letting me play along!

My artist today is Tift Merritt. I fell in love with her album Tambourine back in 2004. I'd pick up my nephew when he was a baby and dance with him to the video for "Good Hearted Man." I absolutely LOVE the song "Laid a Highway" from that album.

Anyway, the song "Broken" from her newer album Another Country is just beautiful and I love the black and white video that she did.

I can't embed the videos so head over to YouTube to watch the videos for Broken and Good Hearted Man.

Enjoy!

Thursday's Tunes

I totally forgot to post the Thursday's Tunes yesterday. So Happy Friday! Check out S. Krishna's post (hope she doesn't mind me playing along).

This is the song that has been in my head this week. Belle and Sebastian are one of my favorite bands. They are a Scottish band and formed during the mid-1990s. They have a different sound. They remind me of my dad's old folk music records from the 1960s/70s.

I love this video's home-movie look:

Thursday's Tunes

Since it IS Thursdsay, I thought I'd join in S. Krishna's weekly blog post Thursday's Tunes.

I don't have speakers at work so I hope this turns out ok. I usually star things on Google Reader with sound and look at them at home. But I was listening to my iPod on the subway this morning on shuffle and this song came on.

Artist: The New Pornographers
Song: Challengers
Album: Challengers

I love love Neko Case's voice. She does her own solo albums as well as belong in the band The New Pornographers.

I just found this video now and think it's beautiful and slightly creepy. I can't wait to go home and check it out with sound. Enjoy!
