And then there was one...

Tom Prestby took advantage of the great lighting today and got some excellent shots of a Purple Sandpiper (Calidris maritima) at Sheboygan. Of 5 birds previously reported, this appears to be the last one remaining. It's unknown what happened to the others - they may have become falcon food, or perhaps they moved further south. There was a Purple Sandpiper reported at Racine a few days ago, but somehow I doubt it was a member of the Sheboygan flock. Tom uses a Swarovski 80HD spotting scope and a Nikon Coolpix 4500.
