Fur Sure

From Living etc, this luxurious throw comes from Heal's.

It all started with a pair of mink earmuffs. You get one pair of mink earmuffs and it becomes a slippery slope to buying a huge fur to put on your bed as a comforter (see above). Basically, I'm obsessed. Earmuffs, vintage fur shawl, fur pillows, mink collar over the weekend, and now I've discovered these amazing fur rugs by Kyle Bunting on Decorati. The patterns and wild colors are so interesting. Check out my fur obsession.

This is Sweet Caroline in Cream. I love this pattern in a neutral slash subtle color.

What a fun Greek key pattern! Rip Cord looks dramatic in these contrasting colors.

One of the most popular ones is this pattern called Jet Stream. It's amazing how many colors these rugs are available in.

Cute patchwork one here. I love the different textures of the furs--they add so much depth to something flat. It's called 3 Lock Box (haha remember the lock box?) in cream and turf.

I love this fun modified quatrofoil shape, called Kashmir with these pretty celadons, and charcoals.

Doesn't this remind you of a pretty Twister game? Called Limelight--not twister.

Clearly, they can be in different shapes and sizes; this one is a runner size. Called Confusion.

The textures of these are so gorgeous! This one is a blonde sort of color--so pretty!

Here are three that Kyle Timothy Blood used in the Hamptons Idea House in 2008. So unexpected!

Hamptons Idea House again.

What I love most about these is that you would associate fur with winter and warmth, but here Kyle Timothy Blood uses them in a summer/beach atmosphere! They are light colored and it just shows that these furs can be used in all seasons.

Perhaps I've gone off the deep end, but at least I did so in high-end style. I'm just so drawn to the textures and the creative colors that the furs are dyed. It's very unexpected--I've never seen anything like them. How amazing would it feel to walk on one of those rugs; they look so soft. Check out his website HERE and his profile on Decorati. What a hard worker!

UPDATE: He has a blog too! HERE.

My New Apartment: Part One

As promised, I have gone through a lot of my pics of my new apartment and decided to share them with you. I still have many many messes that will be fixed over the next few months, but that's what is fun--the projects! Let me walk you through them:

I bought this little yellow pottery lamp at an estate sale in CT for only $5 and replaced the old parchment shade with this pretty silk pleated one! Similar ones can be purchased from Bed Bath and Beyond.

I just got these cute window pane pattern white drapes from Bed Bath and Beyond. I think they're feminine and pretty. I'd love to put more substantial drapery there but I can't drill into the plaster so these will have to work!

One of many of my projects is hanging up all my pictures, framed wallpaper pieces, and art. This is the rug in my bedroom; it's Dash and Albert Tangerine Dream. I bought it when I first moved to NYC.

These are my two absolute fave pillows from Wade Hampton Home sitting nicely on my newly re-upholstered loveseat in Roger Arlington fabric. Don't they look amazing there in my mini living room? I had a perfect rug for this room but it was was too wide for the room. It's small, okay?? So, I've mourned and moved on to THIS!

Adorable fresh flowers from my beau to brighten up my new apt! Aww.

My bedside table is from Target and the lamp is Martha Stewart, that I've had since my freshman year in college! Isn't the blue paint in my bedroom so pretty? It's Brittany Blue from Benjamin Moore. Sometimes it looks grey, and other times it looks blue and it always looks great with all the different colors in my room!

This wicker wall rack I'm going to paint a smokey grey to match the tile in the bathroom. I don't have any bathroom storage so I have to work with the space I have.

Here is a little scene of my new MINI stove top. I use the green Le Creuset kettle to make my fave Harney Tea, and the espresso maker I bought while I was in Florence, but you can get them HERE as well.

This set of three canisters from Sur la Table sits on my lovely Formica counter top. The large one has flower, medium has sugar, and the small has large cooking utensils!

My parents brought me this super handy wall mounted pot rack to hang all my new pots and pans on. I'm pretty sure they've been saving it for a very long time in the basement. Love it! In the 3 days that I've been here I've been cooking so much! These gorgeous pots aren't going to stay shiny for very long. Sad.

Shopping Spotlight: Wade Hampton Home

Last night apres work, I went on a little shopping trip in my never ending search for things for my new apartment! I had been hearing lots of things about this cluster of fun high end boutiques in the Plaza hotel and I thought I'd treat myself to a little swank and ventured in! I found the most glam fun shop I'd seen in a long time! This shop, Wade Hampton Home sells mainly fur pillows but also carries some accessories as well. I super love fur, so I was pretty much in heaven. Travis, my new friend at the store, was also selling the most super elegant accessories: Swarovski Crystal spiders. Take a look...I'm obsessed.

Look at how beautiful these pillows are! They are hand stenciled on the fur. They have cheetah, zebra, palomino (my personal fave), and black--and they come in different sizes, too.

Stack of pillows...LOVE. They are all backed with soft suede.

These two are nearly as big as I am, and super soft. The quality of this fur is completely different from any other fur pillows I've felt before.

Gorgeous. How much do you love those grey and white ones?

Here are the handmade Swarovski crystal spiders I was mentioning above. They are sitting on a huge rabbit fur pillow (come in white and black). So soft against the gorgeous crystals.

Travis tells me that they are made exclusively for Wade Hampton Home by an artist. I've never seen anything like these before--how glam are they?

They remind me a lot of those diamond encrusted broaches that glam women wear. How cool would these look on my new pillow (I got one--will show you picks when I move to my new apt!). This orange spider is sitting on a black leather pillow.

I just loved how beautiful the contrast was between the soft organic fur and the hard, but beautiful crystals. How gorgeous would they look on a tray of drinks at a cocktail party(for my housewarming party), or on a stack of books on a side table? So far my apartment is shaping up to be a mix of soft country style with a punch of New York edge. The store was such a lovely surprise as it was snowing last night and I went right from the Plaza into Central Park. Such a nice New York winter night.
