Things I like to do when it's cold:

Apparently when weather.com says it's 26 degrees and "feels like" 17 degrees, that means that it's the perfect day to go to the Hells Kitchen Flea Market! I found some amazing things and headed out before I caught frostbite. I bought that little brass elephant and he's serving as a bookend right now but I might also display him on my bookcase, too! Check out what else I saw.

Remember my modern Swedish chair that I had re-upholstered? This looks like the two-seat version of it. The back was horizontal slats and I was quite intrigued, but I don't have the need nor the space for it.

I've completely bought into the whole sequin trend. I rarely go for mini flashy trends like this but, sequins are fun.

A suitcase (awesome just by itself) full of fur collars! I already have a fur collar but if you need one, head on over to the HKFM because they have tons of fur!

Isn't this the most beautifully shaped mirror?! When I made my second round at the Flea market, it was already gone. I'm not surprised--what a great find to whomever bought it!

I found this sweet little guy hiding amidst some larger objects! I would have gotten him but there was no saucer to accompany it.

I did purchase this unique gold painted hand blown glass bowl. I thought the detailing was exquisite, yes?

This sweet little saucer was only $3 and now it is mine!

There was a whole section of these gorgeous blue and white pottery pieces all about $30-80. This one would make a great lamp.

This little magnifying glass caught my eye and reminded me of the magnifying glass that I fell in love with at Anthropologie.

If I could but everything that I loved, I would but I can't find space for antique globes! Maybe later in my farmhouse in the country...

I'm literally never disappointed when i go to the Flea Market. There's always something wonderful to find and make your own. I can't wait to go back when the weather gets warmer, whenever that may be.

Hell's Kitchen Flea Market Adventure

Yesterday you saw a part of my trip to the Antiques Garage, but the other leg of this excursion was to the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market. This was equally as fun and we got some goodies here, too! Too bad it was raining because there would have been much more. I bought the green/brown bottle above and the vendor said it was from the 1800's! Depending on how the light hits it, it can be deep olive or a dark green.

Clearly a company with a sense of humor. Appropriate as we started out the day with Mimosas...

These oversized wrenches were very interesting. I can see these in some sort of antique tool collection or group of 3 or 5.

This graceful glass jug had "Italia" written on it. I had no choice but to fall in love.

They had so many fabulous suit cases. I wish I had room for them. A stack of them would make a really fun side table.

Antique filing cabinets. Sand these down and repaint them and you're in business!

Truly appropriate for my friend. She is a star client of mine now!

Amazing crockery.

How pretty is this collection of glass jars? I just love all the different shades of blues and greens.

I'm so glad you all enjoyed our trip to the Antiques Garage yesterday and I hope you enjoy this just as much. I think we'll take another trip to the Flea market in a few weeks when the weather is more favorable. We still have a bit more work to do on my friend's apartment--I can't wait to show you how it's coming together!

Antiques Garage Saturday Adventure.

This weekend was too much fun! On Saturday, my friend and I braved the rain and headed on over to Antiques Garage and the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market. Antiques Garage, on 25th street has always been a favorite of mine and may I just say, it was a success.

How gorgeous are these patterns? There was so many pages of them and I wanted them all but wall space in my apartment is growing scarce.

Butterflies! They also had many beautiful botanical pages.

In this booth they had the sweetest old cursive practice books. These were so carefully done, and this one was actually framed.
A + GOOD JOB! Btw, it says "Eat to live, do not live to eat."

After taking a fencing class with the US Olympic Fencing team a few weeks ago, my bf is a master fencer! I should have gotten him one of these antique fencing masks.

Woah.

I really loved this woven basket and really wanted it but it was broken on the bottom.

Here is super fun lantern that my friend found. That would be a great accessory on a window sill, coffee table, or bookcase.

There were SO many buttons! Buttons galore!

And, yes. I got some. These will be really useful for pillow making.

The best part was that we found what we were looking for! My friend needed a mirror for the living room of her apartment and wanted something round or oval with an interesting rim. This one was just taken from a home the day before and my friend scored it for $60! I'm obsessed with the rope detail on the rim.

Here it is in situ! Without the weird man from above! It was the perfect size as well.

Tomorrow I'll show you our adventure to the Hell's kitchen flea market and what we found. I can't wait to go back when it's not raining and there are more treasures to be had.

Alicia B. Is Back!

Hey y'all! I'm back! After basically being buried in boxes and a huge mess in my new apartment (and avoiding a nervous breakdown from the mess) I have emerged, and I'm back in action. I will be posting before and during pictures sometime tonight as I still have some on going projects such as finishing up painting, hanging my art, and other odds and ends. I also now know that I have a bit of a storage issue (I have one closet for clothing and too much clothing) so I'm on the hunt for a chest of drawers for my foyer. I KNOW, foyer!!! I'm absolutely in love with this one (below) but it is very much out of my price range.

This is EXACLY what I would want; white distressed paint with a sort of farmhouse look to it. In my foyer, I have a huge BOX of fabrics and ribbons and other design slash craft supplies that I'd love to get organized. I'm thinking that I'll just have to go the Housing works Thrift shop route, or the Flea Market...we'll see. Any ideas for my mini budget?

Thanks for everyone's kind and encouraging words as moving is extremely stressful. Now that I'm in though, the rest is going to be pretty fun--organizing, painting, arranging. I"ll update you as I go along. So glad to be back!
